Each year, the Wichita area chapter of Association of Legal
Administrators, in conjunction with the National Association of Legal
Administrators, volunteers time to work for charitable organizations.
This year the decision was made to work with Habitat for Humanity and
Salvation Army.
On the beautiful Saturday morning of October 15, ten members of the
local chapter met at a
Habitat home under construction. Because the
skills of those who volunteered were not such that warranted working with
power tools, our job was that of grounds keeper. Upon arrival the grounds
were tremendously overgrown and unkempt. After 4 hours of manual labor,
and numerous downed trees, the grounds were suitable for occupancy.
One of our members was having so much fun she stayed for the rest of the
day and helped with the cutting and installation of the siding. The
house has since been completed and is now the home of a very nice family.
For the past several years, our chapter has assisted the
Salvation
Army by folding and labeling bags for Christmas gift distribution to many
needy families in the Wichita area. Eight chapter members came together
this year and assisted in accomplishing this task.
The members of the Wichita Area Chapter of Legal Administrators
believe in giving back to our community and are grateful to have the
capacity to do so.
